  • Kate McSweeny

    President & Chief Executive Officer

    Since early 2016, Kate McSweeny has led ACCSES’s national advocacy efforts, including legislative and regulatory policy and member advocacy.  In January 2022, Kate was elevated to President & CEO.  Prior to joining ACCSES, Kate practiced law at the law firms of Chadbourne & Parke (now Norton Rose Fulbright) and Dilworth Paxson in Washington, D.C., while also teaching 22 semesters of legal research and writing as an adjunct law professor.  Kate’s pre-law career was spent in the broadcasting industry, including many years as Vice President of Programming and Development for Turner Broadcasting in Atlanta.  Kate moved to Virginia in 1996 to take an executive position at America Online, and later had a successful consulting practice in broadcasting and media.  Kate is a magna cum laude graduate of George Mason University School of Law and a cum laude graduate of Boston College.  Kate has served on several boards including the Historical Society of the Courts of the D.C. Circuit board, the Woolly Mammoth Theatre board (secretary), the George Mason University School of Law Alumni Association board (president), and the George Mason University Alumni Association board (vice president of advocacy).  She currently sits on the SourceAmerica board.

  • Sarah Saar

    Vice President of Operations

    Sarah Saar joined the ACCSES team in June 2020 as the Director of Operations, making a seamless entrance into this vital role.  In January 2022, she was promoted to Vice President.  Sarah is responsible for overseeing operations, including marketing, member services, membership development, social media, web design, sponsorships, webinars, and conference and event planning.  She is an integral part of the ACCSES Strategic Planning team and works closely with the ACCSES President & Chief Executive Officer on a variety of projects throughout each year.  Sarah has extensive experience working with associations, having previously served as the director for education, membership, chapters, and awards and scholarships throughout her career with FSA Management Group.  Sarah’s boundless creativity has made a significant difference in all aspects of ACCSES’s mission.  Prior to joining FSA, Sarah worked for a chapter of the Spina Bifida Association, did private healthcare consulting, and worked for an international consulting company.  Sarah is a graduate of Ferrum College in Virginia.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual and Performing Arts.

  • Tony Butler

    Chief Financial Officer

    As ACCSES CFO, Tony Butler brings to ACCSES more than 20 years of experience in association management through his dual role as President of FSA Management Group, LLC.  Tony has been responsible for the oversight and management of numerous associations for the last 22 years and has also served in an executive leadership role for event venues and various associations.  He was named FSA president in 2008 and purchased the company in March 2009.  He is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and the Kentucky Society of Association Executives.

  • Michelle Romero

    Director of Marketing

    ACCSES benefits from Michelle Romero’s long experience in marketing, media relations, and sponsorship sales.  She is the liaison with the marketing team producing graphic design, video, social media images, and overseeing a myriad of other projects that allow ACCSES to extend its messages in a wide variety of media and formats.  Michelle began what has become a very successful career as an intern with FSA Management Group and has since grown to be a senior leader in that organization.  ACCSES members know Michelle well because she is always the first welcoming face they see when they attend an ACCSES conference.  Her creativity, passion, and ability to keep everyone on task provides a significant contribution to ACCSES’s core mission.

  • Michelle Kassinger

    Director of Finance

    Michelle Kassinger has been responsible for ACCSES’s accounting needs for many years.  She is an ethical, value-driven individual with proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with management, colleagues, staff, clients, and vendors.  Michelle is extremely detail oriented and takes pride in the quality of her work.  She has 20 years of experience in the accounting field.  Prior to joining FSA Management Group in 2012, Michelle worked in the commercial real estate industry, where she performed accounting functions for more than forty entities.  Michelle’s commitment to accurate and timely reporting, and her deep understanding of financial protocols are just a few of the things that make Michelle such a valued member of the ACCSES team.
