SUMMARY:First Friday Call
DESCRIPTION:CAMERAS ON! THE MICS ARE HOT! On the First Friday of each month during the spring and fall\, ACCSES invites members to attend carefully curated\, interactive calls hosted by leaders in government\, policy\, healthcare\, and business to discuss the key issues of our time. \nDr. Force Asks! is a one‑hour interactive experience—not a presentation—focused on awareness\, engagement\, and intentional action. Led by Lawrence T. Force\, Ph.D.\, this dialogue‑driven session is built around real participant questions and explores how managing your internal world shapes how you show up in your life\, work\, and relationships. \nThrough the core themes of AgeLoudly\, MindfulText\, and Managing Yourself\, participants reflect\, engage\, and gain practical clarity they can use immediately. You’ll leave with greater self‑awareness\, a meaningful action shift\, and the understanding that becoming a better you isn’t selfish—it’s responsible\, and everyone benefits. \nACCSES First Friday calls are open to ACCSES members only.  We encourage all interested leadership and staff of member organizations to attend and if you didn’t get an email invitation\, please contact Sarah Saar at ssaar@accses.org

\nIf you attended the ACCESS Conference in January\, you may have heard Dr. Craig Escudé present “Clinical Pearls in IDD Healthcare.” Join us for our First Friday Call on April 3 for Part 2 of this important discussion. If you did not attend the ACCSES 2026 Winter Summit\, Dr. Escudé will recap key highlights from his presentation and explore additional topics\, including a deeper dive into the Fatal Five Plus—the leading preventable causes of death among people with IDD—as well as how adverse behaviors can signal underlying medical conditions. \nACCSES First Friday calls are open to ACCSES members only.  We encourage all interested leadership and staff of member organizations to attend and if you didn’t get an email invitation\, please contact Sarah Saar at ssaar@accses.org

\nUp to half of all police use-of-force incidents involve a person with a disability. Recognizing this critical need\, the teams from Learning Q\, IDD Safe\, and the Dale Rogers Training Center came together to develop a solution. The result is Safety and Police Encounters\, a new training designed to reduce risk and improve outcomes for individuals and communities. Join us for the First Friday Call on March 6\, where you’ll learn how the training works and how your organization can receive a free trial.  This is an important topic.  Please invite members of your team to participate. \nACCSES First Friday calls are open to ACCSES members only.  We encourage all interested leadership and staff of member organizations to attend and if you didn’t get an email invitation\, please contact Sarah Saar at ssaar@accses.org

SUMMARY:DSP Supervisor Survival Workshop - How to Get Buy-In from Resistant Staff
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that DSP Magnet\, formerly Blitz Media\, and ACCSES are partnering to present a series of workshops directly for current and future front-line supervisors of direct support professionals. \nHow to Get Buy-In from Resistant Staff \nYou have some good ideas to improve recruiting\, turnover\, or the team atmosphere. But someone is standing in your way. Whenever you try to get that person to buy in\, you hear things like… \n\n“But\, this is the way we’ve always done it.”\n“No\, that won’t work.”\n“Oh\, we’ve already tried something like that…”\n\nIt’s frustrating and exhausting. Things can be better. \nOn Friday\, October 3 at 1:00 p.m.\, the New York Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation will be sharing details of their Artificial Intelligence Community of Practice.  This collaborative learning community is preparing disability service providers to engage with artificial intelligence thoughtfully\, safely\, and ethically during a time of rapid change. SUMMARY:DSP Supervisor Survival Workshop - How to Go from DSP to Supervisor
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that DSP Magnet\, formerly Blitz Media\, and ACCSES are partnering to present a series of workshops directly for current and future front-line supervisors of direct support professionals.  Each workshop is scheduled to run for 45 minutes.  The cost for each workshop is $35 per person. \nDSP Magnet is a leader in supporting disability service providers in their efforts to recruit and retain direct support professionals  Each workshop will provide opportunities for front-line supervisors to collaborate with other front-line supervisors from across the country to work through exercises and to discuss concerns\, opportunities\, and ideas.  Watch the video below for more information from DSP Magnet’s Scott de Fasselle. \nTuesday\, March 11th at 1:30 pm ET – How to go from DSP to Supervisor \nIn many cases\, the supervisors are the DSPs who were the “last person standing.” One day you’re a peer and the next day you’re the boss. You’ll get practical strategies for a smooth transition during this workshop.
